The 2017 harvest is under way, and I would like to share great SERCA News !! Coming to a glass near you in 2018 will be our first White!
It will be a southern rhone style blend with Marsanne; Roussanne and Sauvignon Blanc. The grapes were harvested by hand in 15kg cases, selected in double sorting table, de-stemmed, crushed and put into the press along with dry ice to cool down the must and avoid oxidation. After pressing must was transfered into a stainless steel tank. Grapes were very healthy with a perfect balance between sugar concentration and acidity.
We are really satisfied with the quality of the grapes and we are expecting to achieve an amazing result with our winemaking plan.
Cheers, and Stay tuned!!

The perfect summer wine is now available.
Our 2014 Malbec Rosé comes from our super premium vineyard in Uco Valley, Mendoza. Unlike other Rosés, you will find no blending of any other grapes. The SERCA Malbec Rosé goes through alcoholic and malolactic fermentation and is bottled just 8 months after harvest to capture the fresh fruit character and vibrancy of the vintage.
It has a beautiful light ruby color and aromas of strawberries, red currant, cherries and a hint of fresh herbs. In the mouth the wine is rich and suave. The flavors are intense and the finish nice and crisp.
This wine is irresistible and delicious when served cool (ideally 48-52 degrees Fahrenheit). This Rosé will drink very well upon release and it should pair great with :Salads and Cold Vegetables , Charcuterie, Seafood and Fish , Paella and Rice Dishes, Chicken, Pork and Veal empanadas, Spicy Foods and Cheeses.
After just returning from our vineyards in Mendoza, I am very happy to report that I found the vineyards and, equally as important, our grapes in excellent condition!
Overall, we had a great growing season with very high daily thermal amplitude (the difference between the warmest and coldest parts of the day). The grapes heat up during the day and cool rapidly at night which is critical for quality. This temperature change brings us the fabulous high altitude intensity that the Uco Valley is famous for.
Tasting the grapes, I noticed that their tannins were round and more advanced than previous years. This a good sign that our vineyards continue to mature at a great pace. Due to a balanced fruit concentration and good polyphenolic ripeness, we’re on track, once again, to have fabulous wines with great color, flavor, and aroma
After several conversations with our winemaker, Pablo Martorell, and his team, we expect the 2015 wines to show a nice concentration of color and character, a ripeness of tannins, and balanced acidity.
As in years past, we expect a very good year for all varietals.
Every year, I look for an opportunity to try something new, and thanks to the optimal state of our Cab Franc grapes, there will be a special edition made in a very limited quantity of a 2015 barrel fermented Cab Franc. You may have to wait a few years to get your hands on this one, but it will be worth it!!
As far as upcoming releases, below are the tentative dates:
2014 Malbec Rose June 2015
2013 Malbec Reserva November 2015
2013 Gran Corte Reserva November 2015
New release 2015
Once again we are at the beginning of Harvest 2014 in Uco Valley! We are very excited and eager to get out to our vineyards to begin our wine making.
Mendoza had a very hot summer. For several days in a row, the temperatures averaged 100+ degrees during the second half of December and part of January. This high heat makes the grapes ripen faster and could enable the harvest to begin earlier. With the hot summer we had, we also expect fruit with ripe tannins resulting in wines with good structure. Pablo Martorell, our wine maker, is recommending a longer cold maceration to preserve the fruit’s flavor and as always be able to highlight the color and aroma in the wine. Pablo is very happy with the season’s progress and hopes to have another great harvest. Attached are some photos of our beautiful and juicy grapes.

To best enjoy Serca Wines, please note:
1. Storing: For long-term cellaring, store at 55-60°F (12-15°C).
2. Decanting: Our wines will enjoy and improve with aeration before drinking. When you are ready to enjoy, pour the wine into a decanter. I am finding that double decanting (bottle to decanter to bottle) makes a difference.
3. If you’re the kind of person who likes wine toys, then get a Vinturi (small aerator, and use it!)
4. I like to drink Malbec wines between 60 and 63°F (16-17°C). Drink them at any temperature you find enjoyable! But give our favorite temp a try and let me know what your experience was like
5. Our Serca 2012 Premium Plus Malbec was bottled in February 2012. The wine will improve with adequate cellaring for many years. If you really can’t wait (I couldn’t!), pay special attention to note 2 above.
